The John Kirby Sextet Tribute Band
Bassist John Kirby was born in Winchester, Virginia, and this group of good friends celebrates his legacy. Kirby formed an important band in the1930s that approached jazz with a classical sensibility, emphasizing ensemble interplay and a 'cool' approach to the music before 'cool jazz' was conceived.
