Arranging for the Small Jazz Ensemble

Available in both print and Kindle versions at Amazon, Arranging of the Small Jazz Ensemble presents an innovative approach to the challenging subject of jazz arranging. Four original jazz tunes are used throughout the book to demonstrate texture, instrumentation, introductions, endings, interludes, solo backgrounds, solis, and shout choruses. A dedicated website contains professionally recorded audio examples, instructional videos, and helpful links. Each chapter contains exercises that give the reader a chance to practice the techniques learned in that chapter.  By the end of the study, the reader will be equipped to create a complete jazz arrangement.

"Larson...sets his book apart from many others by designing an organized sequence of learning complete with a large selection of assignments and exercises that would be extremely useful in a university -level introductory arranging course". Alex Noppe, Music Educators Journal.
"Although 'Arranging for the Small Jazz Ensemble' is a practical manual for songwriters and jazz annangers, the
emphasis is on the end result: getting your music played". Nancy Lorraine, Midwest Book Review
